Sweet, Final Quarter for Candy Pangilinan

Candy Pangilinan opens the final quarter of 2011 with a series of exciting new projects as headlined by two television series with the fast-rising TV-5 Kapatid network. Candy is currently part of the television adaptation of the classic 1980s teen film Bagets under the direction of Mark Reyes.

On Bagets, Candy plays a single mom who has three bi-racial children: a Filipino-Japanese, a Filipino-Korean, and an Afro-Asian. “The role is quite challenging for me since I had to learn a bit of Japanese and Korean plus the verbal inflections and accent of an Afro-Asian as part of my preparation for the character I’m portraying on the series,” explains Candy.

Bagets, which airs on TV-5 Sundays at 3 p.m. after Paparazzi, is Candy’s first television project with the Kapatid network. “I am thrilled to work with several old friends whom I haven’t seen and worked with for quite some time and I’m also excited to make new friends with TV-5. I’m sure that there are so many wonderful things that I could learn from them and I’m also very eager to share what I know especially with the young people whom I am working with on Bagets.”

JayR Produces Own Christmas Album "Holiday of Love"

Platinum Prince of Soul JayR’s Christmas album Holiday of Love may be one of the projects closest to the singer’s heart. Aside from admitting that he is certainly a “Christmas person,” this album features how gifted he is not only as a singer, but also a musician and a music producer.

Holiday of Love was produced by JayR himself for his own Homeworkz label, and distributed by Universal Records. “This album is very special to me, and I am very proud of it,” says JayR. “I hope everyone grabs a copy. I hope you’ll let me be a part of your Holiday of Love.”

Classic Holiday tunes like Holy Night, Do You See What I See?, Give Love on Christmas Day, Sleigh Ride, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, White Christmas, Into (O Christmas Tree), Winter Wonderland, The Christmas Song, This Christmas, Santa Baby, and The Little Drummer Boy are given the updated, R&B, groovy feel.

Blogs ng Pinoy: An Update

I wrote on one of my previous posts about how I discovered about Blogs ng Pinoy and their list of blogs written by Filipinos here and abroad. I made a review about them and then submitted my request to include my blog in their interestingly long list.

After a few days, I received an email from Blogs ng Pinoy, in the form of a comment on one of my posts (which I accidentally deleted), requesting me to post a comment in either Tagalog or Visaya. My mother is an Ilongga but I know only a little on their dialect as we do not use it at home.

However, I grew up in Quezon City so I can assume proficiency in Tagalog. Thus, I submitted a comment in pure Tagalog. I cannot remember what I exactly posted but it went something like this:

"Isang malaking karangalan para sa akin ang mapabilang ang aking blog sa inyong napakahabang listahan. Ituturing ko rin itong isang napakagandang regalo para sa aking kaarawan bukas," (Translated: "It will be a great honor for me if my blog gets approved and included on your long list of blogs. I will also consider it  nice gift for my birthday tomorrow.")

Blogs ng Pinoy

While I was checking my blog a few days ago, I noticed I already had a couple of followers. I was very glad to know that though I still have very few posts yet.

I checked one of my followers' blog, The Peregrinator. Hopping from her blog to another, one blog caught my attention. It was called Blogs ng Pinoy. I clicked on the link and I was surprised to see a very long list of blogs written by Filipinos here and abroad. It was like a list of each barangay and village around the country. The list goes from A to Z... and new ones are being added everyday. It was overwhelming indeed!

While browsing through the list, I promised myself that someday this simple blog will also be included in their list... and I will definitely work on that. Of course, you will be notified and updated when that happens.
